Hymns Supplied Through the Gracious Generosity
of the Cyber Hymnal Website
Words: Unknown author, 3rd Century; translated from Greek to English by Edward W. Eddis, 1864.
Music: "St. Nicholas (Scholefield)," Clement Cotterill Scholefield, 1870
O Brightness of th'immortal Father's face,
Most holy, heav'nly, blest,
Lord Jesus Christ, in Whom His truth and grace
Are visibly expressed!
The sun is sinking now, and one by one
The lamps of evening shine;
We hymn th'eternal Father, and the Son,
And Holy Ghost divine.
Worthy art Thou at all times to receive
Our hallowed praises, Lord,
O Son of God, be Thou, in Whom we live,
Through all the world adored.
The Blue Letter Bible ministry and the BLB Institute hold to the historical, conservative Christian faith, which includes a firm belief in the inerrancy of Scripture. Since the text and audio content provided by BLB represent a range of evangelical traditions, all of the ideas and principles conveyed in the resource materials are not necessarily affirmed, in total, by this ministry.
