Instructions to Those Who Minister

2 Those ^G3588 who have ^G2192 believers ^G4103 as their masters ^G1203 must not be ^G2706 disrespectful ^G2706 to them because ^G3754 they are brothers ^G80 or sisters, but must serve ^G1398 them all ^G3123 the ^G3123 more ^G3123, because ^G3754 those ^G3588 who [fn]partake ^G482 of the benefit ^G2108 are believers ^G4103 and beloved ^G27. Teach ^G1321 and [fn]preach ^G3870 these ^G3778 principles.

3 If ^G1487 anyone ^G5100 advocates ^G2085 a ^G2085 different ^G2085 doctrine ^G2085 and does not [fn]agree ^G4334 with sound ^G5198 words ^G3056, those ^G3588 of our Lord ^G2962 Jesus ^G2424 Christ ^G5547, and with the doctrine ^G1319 conforming ^G2596 to godliness ^G2150, 4 he is conceited ^G5187 and understands ^G1987 nothing ^G3367; but he [fn]has ^G3552 a ^G3552 sick ^G3552 craving ^G3552 for controversial ^G2214 questions ^G2214 and disputes ^G3055 about ^G3055 words ^G3055, from which ^G3739 come ^G1096 envy ^G5355, strife ^G2054, abusive ^G988 language ^G988, evil ^G4190 suspicions ^G5283, 5 and constant ^G1275 friction ^G1275 between people ^G444 of depraved ^G1311 mind ^G3563 and deprived ^G650 of the truth ^G225, who suppose ^G3543 that [fn]godliness ^G2150 is a means ^G4200 of ^G4200 gain ^G4200. 6 But godliness ^G2150 actually is a means ^G4200 of ^G4200 great ^G3173 gain ^G4200 when accompanied ^G3326 by contentment ^G841. 7 For we have brought ^G1533 nothing ^G3762 into the world ^G2889, so ^G3754 we cannot ^G1410 G3761 take ^G1627 anything ^G5100 out ^G1627 of it, either ^G3761. 8 If we have ^G2192 food ^G1305 and [fn]covering ^G4629, with these ^G3778 we shall be content ^G714. 9 But those ^G3588 who want ^G1014 to get ^G4147 rich ^G4147 fall ^G1706 into temptation ^G3986 and a trap ^G3803, and many ^G4183 foolish ^G453 and harmful ^G983 desires ^G1939 which ^G3748 plunge ^G1036 people ^G444 into ruin ^G3639 and destruction ^G684. 10 For the love ^G5365 of ^G5365 money ^G5365 is a root ^G4491 of all ^G3956 [fn]sorts of evil ^G2556, and some ^G5100 by longing ^G3713 for it have wandered ^G635 away ^G635 from the faith ^G4102 and pierced ^G4044 themselves ^G1438 with many ^G4183 [fn]griefs ^G3601.

17 Instruct ^G3853 those ^G3588 who are rich ^G4145 in this ^G3588 present ^G3568 world ^G165 not to be conceited ^G5309 or ^G3366 to set ^G1679 their hope ^G1679 on the uncertainty ^G83 of riches ^G4149, but on God ^G2316, who richly ^G4146 supplies ^G3930 us with all ^G3956 things ^G3956 to enjoy ^G619. 18 Instruct them to do ^G14 good ^G14, to be ^G4147 rich ^G4147 in good ^G2570 [fn]works ^G2041, to be generous ^G2130 and ready ^G2843 to ^G2843 share ^G2843, 19 storing ^G597 up ^G597 for themselves ^G1438 the treasure ^G597 of a good ^G2570 foundation ^G2310 for the future ^G3195, so ^G2443 that ^G2443 they may take ^G1949 hold ^G1949 of that which is truly ^G3689 life ^G2222.
