"TURNED INTO ANOTHER MAN"
I. "THE SPIRIT OF THE LORD WILL COME UPON THEE."
A. What a belssed priviledge!
1. Think of it - God's Spirit upon man.
2. "Your body the temple of the Holy Spirit."
B. What a rare priviledge.
1. In O.T. times very few knew this blessing.
2. Moses desired it for the whole camp one 70 out of 2,000,000.
3. Joel prophesied of a coming day.
4. Peter bore witness to Joel's prophecy
C. This blessed experience is now for all of God's people. "Repent and be baptized in the name...etc."
II. THE EFFECTS OF THE COMING UPON OF THE SPIRIT.
A. "Ye shall prophesy with them."
1. This is just one of the manifestations.
a. With Sampson's strength.
b. With Daniel's wisdom and understanding.
c. With Elijah's faith.
d. With Elisha's miracles.
B. Thou shalt be turned into another man. The power of the Spirit to transform a life.
1. The idea of the power to change one's life has intrigued man.
a. In mythology magic potions.
b. Superman.
2. Men have endevored to change.
a. Hypnosis.
b. Education.
c. Moving - "what kind of people live in this town."
d. "That which is born of the flesh is flesh."
1. Try as we may it is still flesh.
3. "Thou shalt be turned."
a. Not you will change yourself.
b. This is God's work "Turned."
c. Not a do it yourself, self improvement course.
d. He comes into the weak areas and makes them strong.
He comes into the bitter experiences and makes them
sweet. He comes into the defeats and makes them
victories. He comes to your failures and makes them a
success.
e. The new man dominated by the Spirit.
f. A change of nature.
C. Assurance that "God is with thee."
1. "And if God be for me, who can be against me?"
2. How assuring when facing hard trial.
