"DOES GOD HEAR A SINNER'S PRAYER?"
I. TAKING TEXT FROM CONTEXT DANGEROUS, COULD PROVE...
A. "There is no God." Psalm 14:1
B. "God hath forgotten His people." Isaiah 49:14
C. Christ was a winebibber. Matt 11:19
D. That we ought to worship the devil. Matt. 4:9
E. That we ought to hang ourselves.
II. "WE KNOW GOD HEARETH NOT SINNERS."
A. This is not always true.
1. God does hear men who sin, else He hears no one.
2. God sometimes hears and answers sinners.
a. To lead men to repentance. I Kings 21:27 - King Ahab.
b. To leave them without excuse. Ex. 10:16,17 - Pharaoh.
3. God graciously hears when they cry for repentance. Dying thief, publican.
B. This is true in other cases.
1. He hears none outside mediation of Christ. I Tim. 2:5, one God, one mediator.
2. He will not hear man who willfully continues to sin. Isaiah 1:15, Jer. 14:12.
3. He will not hear the unforgiving. Mark 11:25,26.
4. He will not hear even his own if iniquity and sin in their hearts. Ps 66:18. So He will not hear sinners who die impenitent (foolish virgins).
("God be merciful to me a sinner.")
