Blue Letter Bible Institute
One of BLB’s key offerings is the Hebrew-Greek Lexicon, which gives users immediate access to the original Hebrew and Greek words of each passage as well as cross-referencing of the original language to other passages throughout the entire Old and New Testament. Most recently, BLB has expanded ministry reach through Spanish language resources, social networking (Facebook and Twitter), Mobile BLB, and the newly created BLB iPhone and iPad applications.
Included within the ministry of BLB is the Blue Letter Bible Institute (BLBi). BLBi is a co-laboring effort with other ministries, teachers, and Bible colleges aimed at providing online courses that are identical to courses being taught as part of Bible college curriculums, conferences and seminars. BLBi currently offers 12 courses with competency exams, and has proved to be an excellent resource to the lay body who are seeking to grow in the essentials of Christianity.
Strategic Direction
BLB staff works diligently to maintain and create new website content and applications. Three key components of BLB's strategic direction include ministry expansion in the areas of 'smart' phone application development, women's ministry and content expansion, and Spanish language resource development.
- 'Smart' Phone Application Development — One of our goals is to make BLB available on all 'smart' phone devices (internet accessible mobile phones), which require distinct local applications for each device (Blackberry, iPhone, Droid, etc.). This is a key component of BLB's future strategy due to the global projections of 'smart' phone usage.
- Women's Ministry and Content Expansion — BLB contains a Content Inventory Report, which itemizes an extensive back log of audio and textual materials that are queued for future dissemination. BLB is currently developing a women's ministry arm that will offer numerous resources from historical and current authors such as Fanny Crosby, I. Lilias Trotter, Frances Ridley Havergal, Lettie B. Cowman, Elisabeth Elliot, Kay Smith, Nancy Missler and more.
- Spanish Language Resource Development — BLB has received several requests to offer the BLB website in Spanish. In response, BLB has provided the complete Reina-Valera 1960 Bible (RVR) in both text and audio forms; expositional teachings through the entire Bible in audio; and a Windows Media tutorial of BLB for Spanish users. Future projects include the translation of theological FAQs articles, provision of Spanish language commentaries, and eventually, an entire website in Spanish. We have also received several requests to provide translated resources in Romanian, Russian, Chinese, and Brazilian Portuguese. Our vision is to expand BLB's web-based Bible study tools into multiple languages as resources become available.
