We are commanded in Scripture to be aware of the attacks of the devil.
Non-Existence
One of the tactics the devil takes is to convince people he does not exist. There is no use in resisting someone who is merely a mythological figure. The devil attempts to make people think that he is just the product of someone's imagination.
Angel Of Light
The Bible says that devil comes to us an angel of light, not as some horrible, ugly creature.
Affluence
Another way in which the devil deceives people is through riches. Those who have everything in this world feel that they have no need for God. Jesus was offered riches when He was tempted by the devil.
Turn The Person Away
Whatever the exact tactic that the devil uses, his ultimate objective is to turn that person away from Christ. If he can get a person off of the straight and narrow, then he will do whatever it takes to accomplish this.
Summary
The devil uses a variety of tactics to the cause the believer to sin. He usually appears as an angel of light. The ultimate goal is to get the Christian sidetracked. The Bible warns us not to be ignorant of his tactics.
And we do this so that we may not be outwitted by Satan; for we are not ignorant of his designs (2 Corinthians 2:11).
