Born: November 21, 1844, St. Germains, Norfolk, England.
Daughter of Henry Cambridge, Ada married George Frederick Cross in 1869 (he took Holy Orders in 1870 as a curate in England; after various curacies in Australia, he became Incumbent of Coleraine, diocese of Ballarat, in 1877). Ada’s works include:
- Hymns on the Litany, 1865
- Hymns on the Holy Communion, 1866
- The Manor House and Other Poems (London: Daldy, Isbister & Co., 1875)
- Unspoken Thoughts (London: Kegan Paul, Trench, 1887)
- At Midnight and Other Stories (London: Ward, Lock & Co. Limited, 1897)
- Sisters (London: Hutchinson and Co., 1904)
- The Hand in the Dark and Other Poems (London: William Heinemann, 1913)
She also contributed to Lays of the Pious Minstrels, 1862; English Lyrics; and published a prose story, “The Two Surplices,” 1865, and tales in various magazines.
