Born: February 6, 1874, Resolven, Glamorganshire, Wales.

Died: May 17, 1948, Rhosllannerchrugog (near Wrexham), Wales.

Evans attended University College in Cardiff, Wales, and received his Doctor of Music degree from Oxford University. He was a professor of music at University College from 1903 to 1939. Evans also conducted the well known Welsh singing festivals (Cymafa Ganu) originated by John Roberts, served as judge at the National Eisteddfod, and was the musical editor for the 1927 Church Hymnary.
