Moorsom’s parents were Admiral Constantine Richard Moorsom (who was involved with the abolition of slavery movement in the United Kingdom, and with railways) and his wife Mary Maude. Robert attended Trinity College, Cambridge (B.A. 1854, M.A. 1858), and was ordained in 1859. He married and had children.
