Born: 1827, Scarborough, England.

Potter joined the Roman Catholic church in 1847, and subsequently took Holy Orders. For many years he filled the Chair of Pulpit Eloquence and English Literature at the Foreign Missionary College of All Hallows in Dublin, Ireland. His works include:

• The Pastor and His People
• Legends, Lyrics, and Hymns, 1862
