||
| [fn1]Of David. Fret not yourself because of evildoers; | |
| For they will soon fade like the grass | |
| Trust in the Lord, and do good; | |
| Delight yourself in the Lord, | |
| Commit your way to the Lord; | |
| He will bring forth your righteousness as the light, | |
| Be still before the Lord and wait patiently for him; | |
| Refrain from anger, and forsake wrath! | |
| For the evildoers shall be cut off, | |
| In just a little while, the wicked will be no more; | |
| But the meek shall inherit the land | |
| The wicked plots against the righteous | |
| but the Lord laughs at the wicked, | |
| The wicked draw the sword and bend their bows | |
| their sword shall enter their own heart, | |
| Better is the little that the righteous has | |
| For the arms of the wicked shall be broken, | |
| The Lord knows the days of the blameless, | |
| they are not put to shame in evil times; | |
| But the wicked will perish; | |
| The wicked borrows but does not pay back, | |
| for those blessed by the Lord[fn3] shall inherit the land, | |
| The steps of a man are established by the Lord, | |
| though he fall, he shall not be cast headlong, | |
| I have been young, and now am old, | |
| He is ever lending generously, | |
| Turn away from evil and do good; | |
| For the Lord loves justice; | |
| The righteous shall inherit the land | |
| The mouth of the righteous utters wisdom, | |
| The law of his God is in his heart; | |
| The wicked watches for the righteous | |
| The Lord will not abandon him to his power | |
| Wait for the Lord and keep his way, | |
| I have seen a wicked, ruthless man, | |
| But he passed away,[fn5] and behold, he was no more; | |
| Mark the blameless and behold the upright, | |
| But transgressors shall be altogether destroyed; | |
| The salvation of the righteous is from the Lord; | |
| The Lord helps them and delivers them; | |
