  1. What God Has Done
    1. Israel as a nation has not obtained righteousness and salvation
    2. The elect remnant within the nation has obtained righteousness and salvation
    3. The rest of the nation was blinded and made deaf to the Truth
  2. The Righteousness that Comes from God
    1. The wrong approach of the Jews
      1. Self-righteousness
        1. Through the law
        2. Through works
        3. Through ceremony
        4. Through human morality
      2. Man’s standard of righteousness
        1. Not according to God’s Word
        2. Not acceptable to God – Isa 53:6
      3. The expectation of reward
        1. “Look at me”
        2. “Give me favor”
      4. The wrong approach is not innocent
        1. There is no broken-hearted sorrow over sin
        2. There is little attention to truth, mercy, and justice – Mat 23:25; 12:35, 15:19
    2. God’s approach for His elect to have righteousness and salvation
      1. It is according to the election by grace
      2. It is by predestination
      3. It is by the adequate atonement of Christ
      4. It is by the application of the atonement and election to the chosen
      5. It is by the gift of faith which causes the elect to come to Christ and trust Him for salvation
        1. We hurt because of our sin
        2. We long for righteousness and salvation
      6. Any coming, any seeking, any turning, any repentance on our part is the response to God’s grace already given to us
