"THE EMPTY LIFE"
I. THE MINISTRY OF APOLLOS.
A. His qualifications.
1. Learned man.
2. Mighty in Scriptures.
3. Fervent in Spirit.
B. His message.
C. His instruction.
1. Priscilla and Aquila, "expounded unto him the way of God more excellently."
D. Lesson - You cannot lead people any higher than you yourself are.
II. THE CHURCH OF EPHESUS.
A. Paul observed something lacking.
B. Paul's analysis lack of Holy Spirit.
1. They believed message of Jesus, no more.
2. Tonight may ask you do you believe in Jesus?
3. "Received ye the Spirit when you believed."
C. If Paul had to face most congregations that exist today he would probably stop after first 5 minutes.
1. Ethic without enthusiasm.
2. Principle with passion.
3. Desire without dynamic.
4. Negation of wrong things without without positive power of new life.
Ethic merely accepted as true becomes traditional bondage.
Principle without fire becomes heartlessness.
Desire without power becomes cynicism.
Negation becomes chaos.
Faultily faultless; icily regular, dead while alive, splendidly nill.
