Intro. Assyria spoils but is never spoiled. Fierceness has subdued all countries now surrounded Jerusalem. Within the city a king who was trusting in the deliverance of Jehovah promised by the prophet. One morning as the tower guards looked out over the enemy and saw 185,000 dead bodies lying. "The sinners in Zion are afraid, fearfulness hath surprised the hypocrite, who among us shall dwell with the devouring."
I. GOD REVEALED AS FIRE.
A. Heb. "Our God is a consuming fire."
B. "He shall baptize you with the Holy Spirit & Fire."
C. His eyes as a flame of fire.
II. THE NATURE OF FIRE.
A. Consuming.
B. Purifying.
1. Isa. call and vision.
2. "Gold tried in fire."
C. Transmits into permanency, forging.
D. It is everywhere.
1. Throughout nature Eremacasus.
2. Immense of God's presence.
III. THE RESULT OF SEEING THE FIRE OF GOD.
Sinners in Zion are afraid.
A. Fearfulness has surprised the hypocrite.
1. Dwell.
a. Approach.
b. Flee.
IV. DWELLER IN FIRE, "YOU CAN'T FLEE GOD."
A. The questions is what is it doing to me?
