I. VARIOUS INTERPRETATlONS.
A. Message to world.
1. Universal fatherhood of God and brotherhood of man.
2. A system of ethics that need to just be applied by all men to usher in kingdom.
B. No application to Christian now but in future kingdom age.
C. "And seeing the multitudes He went up into the mountain."
1. Not to multitudes.
2. Message to disciples.
D. Rules for interpretation.
1. Natural obvious meaning usually correct.
a. Some always looking for hidden spiritual meaning.
2. If my interpretation makes the scripture seem absurd interpretation wrong.
3. If my interpretation makes the scripture contradict general body of revealed truth my interpretation wrong.
E. Most heresies arise from going to scriptures with a theory.
II. BEATITUDES.
A. Concerned with happiness.
B. All Christians are meant to be like this.
1. Catholic church make some saints.
2. God's Word makes us all saints.
C. All Christians meant to manifest all these.
D. These are not references to natural tendencies.
E. Point out difference between Christian and non-Christian.
1. What they admire.
2. What they seek.
