We are privileged to read story after story of how lives are being transformed through the Blue Letter Bible. Here's a story we recently received from Tim Bettger. Tim and his wife Bobbi are missionaries to the soldiers fighting the international war on terror.
Every week groups of soldiers from the most deployed unit in the war pour into Tim's home to find hope in God. Many suffer from horrifying battlefield nightmares, post-traumatic stress disorder, and the shock of losing their buddies to the violence of war.
Tim laments,
I've flown the flag in our front yard at half-mast so often there's a worn spot in the flag line.
Tim speaks of their preparations for their weekly Friday night meeting,
Right now, my wife Bobbi is busy downstairs preparing a meal for the 15 to 20 hungry warriors who will be joining us for dinner. While Bobbi prepares dinner, I have been putting the final touches on the spiritual meal I will feed our soldiers tonight. I'm on part four of a (roughly) ten-night study through Romans 1:18-32. Over the past weeks, I've returned again and again to this passage on Blue Letter Bible in preparation. Last week as I dissected verse 21 online, I found my heart deeply pierced, ‘For although they knew God, they neither glorified him as God nor gave thanks to him.’
Tim adds that many of the soldiers use the Blue Letter Bible iPhone App to take notes during his messages. And now Tim is training these troops to study with Blue Letter Bible, so they can wield the power of God's sword virtually anywhere in the world. Please pray for Tim and Bobbi as they continue to minister to those who are deeply in need of God's strength.
