The Jewish Need of Salvation by Faith

  1. The Jew Had Many Advantages – Rom 2:17-18
    1. He had the name of Jew – He was identified with the people of God’s Covenant – Rom 2:17
      1. They were chosen by God – election
      2. They were to reveal God
    2. He possessed the Law – He rested in the Law as though possession brought acceptance – Rom 2:13, 17
      1. They had exclusive possession of the Law
      2. They thought they had exclusive possession of God
    3. He glories in God – a vain consideration of himself while ignoring God’s Word and will – Rom 2:18
      He accepted the truth intellectually but his will was not changed
  2. The Jew Knew His Position in the World
    1. He had God’s prophets
    2. He had God’s Word
    3. He was the teacher
    4. The description of the untaught – Rom 2:19-20
      1. Blind
      2. In darkness
      3. Foolish
      4. Babes
