God Is Really God

  1. God’s Sovereignty Displayed Through Jacob and Esau
    1. Jacob – object of love, blessing, mercy, inheritance
    2. Esau – object of hate, no blessing, no inheritance
    3. This text refers to individuals – not nations
  2. The Plain Fact of Election
    1. There is a difference caused by grace
      1. 1Co 4:7; Act 13:48; 16:14
    2. God has always had a people for himself – Rom 11:1-10
  3. The Questions that Arise
    1. Why did God love Jacob?
      1. It is by Sovereign Grace
      2. It is not by Jacob’s goodness or merit
    2. Why did God hate Esau?
      1. Because Esau deserves it
      2. All men deserve condemnation – Jhn 3:19-36
      3. God’s justice has sound basis
      4. Man is to be blamed – not God
      5. Esau sold God’s inheritance
      6. Esau never repented
  4. The Truth
    1. Salvation is all of grace
    2. Damnation is all of sin
    3. God gets all the glory for every soul that is saved
    4. Man gets the blame for every soul that is lost
  5. God’s Choosing – Rom 9:10-18
    1. He has the right to choose whom He pleases
    2. He exercises that right
    3. He is free
    4. He is not obligated to anyone
    5. He is totally, fully, completely sovereign

    1. Can man talk back to God?
