"TRAPPED"
I. THE TRAP.
A. Moses directed the children of Israel to turn toward the Red Sea between Pihahiroth and Baal Zephon.
1. With mountains on either side and the sea in front, no place to go.
a. When Pharaoh heard of it he said, "The wilderness has shut them up."
2. To complicate matters, Pharaoh with his army sealed off the entrance by which they came and left no escape route.
B. The men of Israel began to chide Moses.
1. From the natural, a very stupid move.
C. How did they get in such a treatment?
1. Vs. 1,2 "And the Lord spake unto Moses."
2. God directed them into this situation.
a. I often hear people blame God for their mistakes.
b. Their pride won't allow them to admit error of judgment.
D. Why did God lead them into a trap?
1. He wanted to close every possible avenue of escape but Himself.
2. He wanted to teach them that He can make a way even when there is no way.
3. He wanted them to despair of their own human resourcefulness and trust Him.
4. He wanted them to know salvation and deliverance is wholly of the Lord.
E. "Since I turned my life over to God everything has gone wrong."
1. This is not uncommon if you have been an especially clever and resourceful person.
2. For years you have learned to trust your own wit.
3. God is just trying to deliver you from yourself.
II. MOSES'INSTRUCTIONS FOR DELIVERANCE FROM TRAP.
A. Do nothing!
1. The thoughts that ran through their heads.
a. A.A. & we followed this guy.
b. Moses, you out of your head.
2. Stand still.
3. See the salvation of the Lord.
4. Hold your peace.
III. GOD'S DELIVERANCE FROM THE TRAP.
A. The angel of God stood between them and the enemy.
Do you feel trapped today? All escape routes blocked?
