I. OPENS NEW SECTION - REALITY A SUBSECTION.
A. Christian's relationship to Father in this world.
1. Public life and private life.
2. How I pray - How I worship - How I fast.
a. Don't spend all my time doing these - I would be a monk.
3. Worldliness greatest problem.
a. Vs. 19-24, dangers of laying up worldly treasures.
b. Vs. 25 - end of chapter, anxiety or worry over worldly things.
c. Some say vs. 19-24 too rich.
d. Vs. 25 - end, poor or work for a living.
4. Subtlety of Satan.
a. If you have no treasure, he will cause you to worry over lack, thus mind on worldliness, and not God.
b. Close front door and he comes in back door.
B. States principle and gives reasons.
1. Principle stated, therefore:
a. Vs. 25.
b. Vs. 31.
c. Vs. 34.
...repetition key to learning.
II. "TAKE NO THOUGHT."
A. Be not anxious - Don't worry - Have no anxiety.
1. Christ to Martha, "Thou art careful and troubled about many things."
B. Negative.
1. Not teaching we should not think of these things at all. "Live by faith."
a. Context - birds.
C. Not to be anxious about lives or body.
1. Whole life.
2. Reasons.
a. "Is not life more than meat?"
b. "...body than raiment?"
c. Logicians tell us argument based on deduction from greater to lesser.
d. What did He mean by this?
1. Take your life - where did it come from? Gift of God.
e. "O ye of little faith."
