箴言15:12再次提到讥诮者：“讥诮者不爱责备他的人，也不归向智慧人。”（第12节）这节经文揭示了讥诮在属灵上为何如此危险。
嘲讽者不喜欢别人责备他，因为纠正对他而言如同自尊心受挫。他憎恨那些向他指出真相的人。他非但不接受帮助，反而会抵制帮助。这便形成了一个封闭的道德体系，使人几乎无法成长。
这就是他为何不愿去拜访智者的原因。智慧需要谦逊，但讥诮者宁愿避开智者，也不愿聆听自己需要的教诲。悲剧不仅在于他缺乏教诲，更在于他避开了那些本可带来疗愈和启迪的人。
