本章以一个基本原则的总结作结：敬畏耶和华是智慧的开端，谦卑在尊荣之前（第33节）。箴言15:33的最后一句将本章的主题归纳为一个最终原则。
敬畏耶和华被称为智慧的训诲，因为敬畏顺服上帝是学习智慧的学校。没有这种态度，知识或许会增长，但智慧却不会增长。敬畏耶和华始终是智慧生活的起点和持续框架。
