箴言20:23再次重申了第10节提出的主题：不同的砝码为耶和华所憎恶，虚假的天平也不好（第23节）。这种重复是刻意的，强调了上帝对日常商业活动的重视程度。
所罗门在同一章中两次提及砝码重量不同这一罪行，显然是要让学生明白，这并非小事。砝码虽小，却能揭示人的品格。
不公平的秤不好。歪斜的秤渗透到每一笔交易中。它欺骗的不仅仅是一位顾客，而是所有顾客，而且悄无声息，无人敢指责；但上帝会揭露。这就是这句谚语所强调的。
