箴言21:3揭示了敬拜与伦理之间的关系： “行公义和公平，胜过献祭，是耶和华所喜悦的。”（第3节）这节经文与旧约中许多其他经文一样，都将礼仪置于伦理顺服之下。

献祭在此并未被废除，而是被置于其应有的位置。敬拜固然重要，但用行不义之手和口所献上的赞美，并非上帝所喜悦的。
