In Proverbs 14:35, Solomon concludes, The king’s favor is toward a servant who acts wisely, but his anger is toward him who acts shamefully (v. 35). The chapter ends by returning to the practical fruit of wise conduct.
A servant who acts wisely earns the king’s favor because wisdom makes a person trustworthy, beneficial, and stable. Wise service blesses those in authority and contributes to the health of the whole realm.
But the servant who acts shamefully draws the king’s anger. Shameful conduct disrupts trust and dishonors the role entrusted to him. The proverb reinforces a theme running through the whole chapter: wisdom leads toward favor and flourishing, while folly leads toward loss.
