The contrast in Proverbs 15:14 concerns appetite: The mind of the intelligent seeks knowledge, but the mouth of fools feeds on folly (v. 14). What people consume reveals who they are becoming.
The mind of the intelligent seeks knowledge because wisdom produces hunger for what is true. The intelligent person is not satisfied with ignorance, noise, or shallow distraction. They want understanding, and their mind moves toward reality.
Meanwhile, the mouth of fools feeds on folly. Fools take in and repeat what is empty, corrupt, or absurd. They nourish themselves on what cannot sustain them. This proverb teaches that intellectual and moral diet matters. We become, in part, what we repeatedly consume.
