The Bible Says
Proverbs 15:15 Meaning

Here in Proverbs 15:15 Solomon observes the connection between outlook and experience: All the days of the afflicted are bad, but a cheerful heart has a continual feast (v. 15). He is not denying hardship, but showing how the condition of the heart shapes life’s felt reality.

For the afflicted person, every day may feel heavy because pain colors perception. Burdened circumstances and spirit reinforce one another. Solomon is describing the real exhaustion that comes when affliction dominates a person’s horizon.

Yet a cheerful heart has a continual feast. Cheerfulness here is not denial of pain, but a deep inward orientation that receives life as gift from God. Such a heart can find nourishment and gratitude even amid ordinary limitations. Wisdom can create abundance in the midst of modest circumstances.
