A familiar Proverbs theme appears again: Better is a little with the fear of the LORD than great treasure and turmoil with it (v. 16). In Proverbs 15:16, the quality of life is measured morally rather than merely materially
A little with the fear of the LORD is better because reverence for God brings order, peace, and stability. A modest life lived under His wisdom contains a greater good than abundance filled with anxiety. The fear of the Lord is a better treasure than treasure itself.
By contrast, great treasure and turmoil with it reveals the emptiness of prosperity without peace. Wealth can multiply pressure, competition, and unrest when it is disconnected from wisdom. Solomon again dismantles the illusion that more always means better.
