The Bible Says
Proverbs 16:12 Meaning

A king’s moral duty is sharpened in Proverbs 16:12: It is an abomination for kings to commit wicked acts, for a throne is established on righteousness (v. 12). Authority does not excuse evil; it makes righteousness even more necessary.

To say wicked acts are an abomination for kings is to underline how destructive corruption in leadership can be. A ruler’s sin multiplies its impact across the people. The throne is not secured by force alone, but by moral order.

A throne is established on righteousness. Lasting authority depends on justice, truth, and wise rule. This principle extends beyond monarchy. Leadership in any sphere is most stable when it is ordered by righteousness rather than self-protection and exploitation.
