Proverbs 16:21 says, The wise in heart will be called understanding, and sweetness of speech increases persuasiveness (v. 21). Wisdom within shapes both reputation and influence.
The person wise in heart will be recognized as understanding because inner formation eventually becomes visible. Wisdom is not merely hidden content; it manifests in how a person sees situations and responds to them.
Additionally, sweetness of speech increases persuasiveness. Truth does not become less true when spoken graciously. Rather, wise and gracious delivery often helps truth be heard. This does not mean manipulation, but fitting speech that makes sound judgment easier for others to receive.

The Blue Letter Bible ministry and the BLB Institute hold to the historical, conservative Christian faith, which includes a firm belief in the inerrancy of Scripture. Since the text and audio content provided by BLB represent a range of evangelical traditions, all of the ideas and principles conveyed in the resource materials are not necessarily affirmed, in total, by this ministry.
