The Bible Says
Proverbs 16:7 Meaning

A remarkable relational promise appears in Proverbs 16:7: When a man’s ways are pleasing to the LORD, He makes even his enemies to be at peace with him (v. 7). This does not mean the righteous never face hostility. Scripture is full of faithful people who endured opposition.

The point is that God is able to govern even adversarial relationships. He can restrain, soften, redirect, or neutralize enemies in ways that human effort alone cannot achieve. When one’s ways are pleasing to the LORD, that person is living within the sphere of God’s favor and ordering power.

This proverb teaches that the first priority is not mastering enemies, but pleasing God. Too often we try to solve relational tension by controlling others. Solomon instead points us to the deeper reality: God rules outcomes, and the wise seek His approval before all else.
