A principle of moral reversal appears in Proverbs 17:13: He who returns evil for good, evil will not depart from his house (v. 13). Ingratitude and betrayal carry long shadows.
To return evil for good is especially grievous because it answers kindness with harm. This is more than ordinary sin; it is a corruption of the basic moral order. Good should be met with gratitude, not treachery. When that order is inverted, something deeply crooked is at work.
Solomon says evil will not depart from his house. The consequence lingers. A person who betrays good seeds ongoing trouble into his household and future. This proverb warns that treachery against kindness does not end neatly. It invites continuing disorder.
