A sharp observation about self-inflicted ruin appears in Proverbs 19:3: The foolishness of man ruins his way, and his heart rages against the LORD (v. 3). Solomon exposes both the cause of collapse and the instinctive human reaction to it.
The foolishness of man ruins his way because folly works against reality. It distorts judgment, weakens stewardship, and bends decisions toward self-harm. As your Proverbs materials emphasize, evil cannot create; it can only pervert and derail what God designed for good.
Yet once ruin comes, his heart rages against the LORD. Instead of admitting that his own foolish choices played a role, he blames God. This is one of the deepest marks of folly: not only choosing the crooked path, but resenting God when the crooked path collapses.
