A certeza dada em Provérbios 12:21 revela que Nenhuma desgraça acontecerá ao justo, mas os perversos estarão cheios de males (v. 21). Este provérbio deve ser lido como literatura sapiencial, não como uma negação de que os justos sofrem. O ponto de Salomão é sobre o resultado moral final, não sobre a ausência de dificuldades.
Em seu verdadeiro sentido, nenhum mal atinge os justos porque Deus guarda seu caminho e usa até mesmo o sofrimento em Seus bons propósitos. As dificuldades não os vencem definitivamente. Elas não podem destruir o bem que Deus opera na e por meio da justiça.
Os ímpios, porém, estão cheios de problemas. Os problemas os cercam porque seu caminho os gera continuamente. Eles carregam inquietação dentro de si e frequentemente criam inquietação ao seu redor, o mal não é pacífico, mesmo quando parece próspero à distância.
