A verdade proclamada em Provérbios 12:22 revela que Os lábios mentirosos são abominação a Jeová, mas os que falam a verdade são seu prazer (v. 22). Deus não trata a honestidade como uma virtude social menor. Ele leva a mentira a sério porque a falsidade atenta contra a ordem que Ele estabeleceu.
Dizer que lábios mentirosos são uma abominação para o SENHOR é uma linguagem muito forte. Significa que o engano é moralmente repugnante para Ele. As mentiras não apenas incomodam os outros; elas contradizem o Deus da verdade e ferem a confiança da qual dependem os relacionamentos humanos.
Aqueles que agem com fidelidade, porém, são o seu deleite. Agir com fidelidade inclui honestidade, confiabilidade e integridade tanto na fala quanto na ação. É belo que Deus se deleite em tais pessoas. Suas vidas refletem o Seu caráter nas transações comuns do dia a dia.
