A percepção apresentada em Provérbios 12:23 por Salomão revela que O homem prudente encobre o conhecimento, mas o coração dos tolos proclama a estultícia (v. 23). A sabedoria inclui discrição. A pessoa prudente sabe que nem todo conhecimento precisa ser exibido imediatamente.
Ocultar conhecimento não significa esconder a verdade de forma pecaminosa. Significa administrar o conhecimento com cuidado, falando no momento certo e da maneira certa. Os prudentes não são movidos pela necessidade de impressionar. Eles usam o que sabem para o bem, e não para autopromoção.
O coração dos tolos, porém, proclama a estultícia. A insensatez transborda porque é ruidosa, impulsiva e ávida por ser vista. Este versículo nos lembra que a sabedoria muitas vezes se apresenta de forma silenciosa, enquanto a insensatez frequentemente se anuncia. A verdadeira compreensão é suficientemente contida para esperar.
