O princípio revelado em Provérbios 13:10 por Salomão mostra que Da soberba provém só a contenda, mas com os bem avisados está a sabedoria (v. 10). O orgulho é novamente apresentado como uma força geradora de conflitos. A insolência resiste à correção e desafia os limites da realidade.
Quando uma pessoa age com insolência, só há conflito, pois a arrogância perturba a paz. Ela insiste na própria importância, recusa-se a aprender e trata os outros de forma competitiva em vez de humilde. O orgulho transforma a conversa em conflito.
Em contraste, a sabedoria está com aqueles que aceitam conselhos. A capacidade de aprender abre as portas para a paz, pois permite que a verdade externa molde o caminho de cada um. A sabedoria floresce onde o orgulho se submete. Os Provérbios nunca se cansam dessa lição, pois ela é fundamental para a vida.
