A verdade expressa em Provérbios 13:11 revela que As riquezas adquiridas às pressas diminuir-se-ão, mas aquele que ajunta pouco a pouco será próspero (v. 11). Salomão contrapõe o ganho desonesto ao trabalho paciente. Ambos podem gerar dinheiro a curto prazo, mas não produzem o mesmo tipo de futuro.
A riqueza obtida por meio de fraude diminui porque o ganho ilícito carece de estabilidade e, muitas vezes, é consumido pela própria corrupção que o gerou. A fraude distorce relacionamentos, mina a confiança e lança uma maldição sobre o que foi conquistado. A riqueza obtida de forma ilícita carrega consigo uma fragilidade intrínseca.
Aquele que ajunta com trabalho, porém, multiplica a sua riqueza. O trabalho paciente e honesto constrói bens ao longo do tempo. O provérbio elogia a administração constante em vez da aquisição rápida e manipuladora. Esta é a sabedoria da acumulação fiel, e não da aceleração enganosa.
