Salomão observa em Provérbios 13:16 que Todo homem prudente procede com conhecimento, mas o tolo ostenta a estultícia (v. 16). A prudência não é medida pelo que uma pessoa afirma saber, mas por como ela age. O conhecimento se torna sabedoria quando guia a conduta.
O homem prudente age com conhecimento. Ele não se move precipitadamente; em vez disso, deixa que a compreensão molde suas decisões, o momento certo e o tom de voz. A sabedoria não é teórica para ele; ela se tornou parte integrante de seu comportamento.
O tolo, por outro lado, demonstra insensatez. Ele torna visível sua falta de sabedoria por meio de ações impulsivas. Em vez de agir com discernimento, ele evidencia sua desordem. Este versículo mostra, mais uma vez, que o caráter acaba se revelando na conduta.
