O contraste apresentado em Provérbios 13:17 revela que O mensageiro perverso faz cair na desgraça, mas o embaixador fiel consegue a cura (v. 17). O provérbio enfatiza a representação e a confiança. Um mensageiro carrega mais do que palavras; ele carrega responsabilidade.
Um mensageiro desonesto enfrenta adversidades porque a infidelidade prejudica a missão que lhe foi confiada. Seja por engano, preguiça ou egoísmo, ele interrompe o que deveria ter sido entregue com sucesso. A falta de confiabilidade cria problemas não apenas para os outros, mas também para o próprio mensageiro.
Um enviado fiel, porém, traz cura. A fidelidade repara, fortalece e preserva relacionamentos. Quando uma pessoa lida com a responsabilidade com honestidade, torna-se uma fonte de paz em vez de ruptura. Isso é verdade em assuntos humanos comuns e também aponta para a beleza de transmitir fielmente a verdade de Deus.
