Salomão afirma em Provérbios 13:22 que O homem de bem deixa uma herança aos filhos de seus filhos, e os bens do pecador estão reservados para o justo (v. 22). A bondade é geracional, e uma vida justa muitas vezes deixa um legado que vai além dos benefícios imediatos.
A herança inclui provisão material, mas também o legado mais amplo de sabedoria, estabilidade e exemplo piedoso. O homem bom constrói de uma forma que abençoa até mesmo seus netos. Sua vida produz frutos que se estendem para além de sua própria existência.
A segunda linha mostra que a riqueza pecaminosa não é, em última análise, segura. A riqueza do pecador é reservada para o justo, porque Deus governa o destino final do ganho. O acúmulo ímpio é instável e pode acabar servindo a propósitos diferentes daqueles que o pecador pretendia.
