A pergunta retórica em Provérbios 14:22, de Salomão, revela: Porventura, não erram os que maquinam o mal? Mas haverá benignidade e verdade para os que planejam o bem (v. 22). Este provérbio contrapõe o mal intencional ao bem intencional, onde ambos começam no âmbito do planejamento.
Aqueles que tramam o mal se desviam, pois a maldade afasta a pessoa da realidade, planejar o mal não é astúcia, mas sim devaneio. O coração que trama o mal já se desviou do caminho reto.
Mas a bondade e a verdade pertencem àqueles que planejam o bem. Essa união é importante. A bondade não é apenas sentimental; ela se une à verdade. Aquele que planeja o que é bom participa da própria ordem moral de Deus e recebe o fruto apropriado dessa união.
