A condição interior descrita em Provérbios 14:30 mostra que O ânimo tranquilo é a vida da carne, mas a inveja é a podridão dos ossos (v. 30). Salomão reconhece a profunda conexão entre a vida interior e o corpo.
Um coração tranquilo dá vida ao corpo, porque a paz, a confiança e a firmeza interior alinham a pessoa com a realidade. Lutar constantemente contra a realidade desgasta tanto a alma quanto o corpo. Mas um coração em repouso na ordem de Deus sustenta a vida.
A paixão aqui carrega a ideia de inveja ou ciúme exacerbado, e é a podridão até os ossos. Os ossos representam a força interior. A inquietação invejosa corrói por dentro. O provérbio ensina que a desordem interior não é meramente emocional; ela tem consequências reais e devastadoras para a vida.
