O contraste apresentado em Provérbios 14:6 por Salomão revela que O escarnecedor busca a sabedoria e não a acha; mas para o inteligente o conhecimento é fácil (v. 6). O problema do escarnecedor não é a falta de acesso, mas a falta de postura. Ele busca sem humildade.
Um zombador pode até fazer perguntas, mas na verdade não deseja aprender. Permanece preso ao orgulho, e por isso a sabedoria permanece inalcançável. A sabedoria não pode ser adquirida enquanto o coração estiver comprometido em zombar daquilo que deveria receber. Isso está em consonância com o tema dos Provérbios de que a zombaria fecha a porta para o crescimento.
Mas o conhecimento é fácil para quem tem entendimento. A pessoa que já possui uma postura receptiva e perspicaz encontra a sabedoria mais acessível porque está pronta para recebê-la. O entendimento abre caminho para mais entendimento. A humildade transforma a sabedoria de algo obscuro em algo disponível.
