Aqui, em Provérbios 15:25, Salomão destaca a justiça de Deus: Jeová desarraigará a casa dos soberbos, mas estabelecerá os termos da viúva (v. 25). Deus se opõe aos arrogantes e protege os vulneráveis.
A casa dos soberbos representa o que a arrogância constrói: status, poder, legado e estruturas de autoexaltação. Contudo, o Senhor a destruirá, pois o orgulho se opõe fundamentalmente ao Seu governo. O que é construído sobre a glória própria não pode permanecer seguro diante Dele.
Em contraste, Ele estabelecerá os termos da viúva. No antigo Israel, uma viúva era especialmente vulnerável à exploração porque não contava com a proteção e o sustento frequentemente associados a um marido e uma família. Os termos são uma referência às linhas de propriedade e aos direitos de herança. A defesa que Deus faz dos termos da viúva demonstra Sua preocupação com a justiça e Seu compromisso em preservar os fracos contra aqueles que se aproveitariam deles.
