Então Salomão afirma o seguinte com ainda mais ênfase em Provérbios 15:32: Quem rejeita a correção despreza a sua alma, mas aquele que escuta a repreensão adquire conhecimento (v. 32). A recusa da correção é mostrada aqui como autodestrutiva.
Rejeitar a correção é desprezar a si mesmo, pois é rejeitar aquilo que leva ao florescimento. Uma pessoa que se nega a ser corrigida não está se protegendo, mas sim prejudicando a própria vida. Ela está se afastando de um dos principais meios pelos quais a sabedoria entra na vida.
Em contrapartida, aquele que escuta a repreensão adquire conhecimento. O conhecimento geralmente não se conquista apenas pelo conforto, mas sim por meio da orientação da verdade. Este versículo revela a bondade oculta na correção quando esta é recebida corretamente.
