Uma nova imagem surge em Provérbios 15:4: A língua suave é árvore de vida, mas a perversa quebranta o espírito (v. 4). Salomão apresenta a fala como algo capaz tanto de nutrir a vida quanto de destruir o ser interior.
Uma língua que acalma é uma fala que cura, tranquiliza e fortalece. É chamada de árvore da vida, uma das imagens mais ricas em Provérbios para vitalidade, bênção e restauração. Palavras sábias podem acalmar um coração temeroso, restaurar uma alma cansada e nutrir um relacionamento em crise.
Mas a perversão na fala esmaga o espírito. Palavras deturpadas podem distorcer, humilhar, enganar ou ferir tão profundamente que a pessoa se sente quebrada por dentro. Salomão nos lembra que a linguagem não é algo trivial. Usada corretamente, ela dá vida; usada de forma perversa, pode causar danos profundos e invisíveis.
