Agora Salomão entra diretamente no âmbito da adoração: O sacrifício dos perversos é abominação a Jeová, mas a oração dos retos é-lhe agradável (v. 8). Provérbios 15:8 mostra como Deus não se impressiona com atos religiosos que estão desvinculados da justiça.
O sacrifício dos ímpios é uma abominação porque o ritual exterior não pode encobrir uma vida interior dedicada ao mal. A adoração oferecida sem arrependimento é ofensiva a Deus. Este é um tema bíblico fundamental, no qual Deus rejeita a prática religiosa desvinculada da justiça (Isaías 1:11-17).
Em contraste, a oração dos retos é o Seu deleite. Deus não se deleita em meras cerimônias, mas em relacionamentos sinceros marcados pela verdade e humildade. Mesmo uma oração simples de um coração reto é mais agradável a Ele do que ofertas extravagantes de alguém que rejeita os Seus caminhos.
