Provérbios 16:13 mostra o que os governantes devem valorizar: Os lábios justos são o prazer dos reis, e é amado aquele que fala coisas retas (v. 13). Uma boa liderança depende não apenas de falar corretamente, mas também de se cercar de vozes verdadeiras.
Um rei sábio se deleita com lábios justos, pois tal discurso o ajuda a governar bem. Líderes que amam apenas elogios se preparam para o desastre. A fala verdadeira e íntegra é muito mais valiosa do que elogios que escondem a realidade.
Este provérbio também destaca o poder social da honestidade. Quem fala coisas retas se torna extremamente valioso, especialmente em contextos onde o julgamento e a ordem pública são importantes. A fala justa é uma dádiva à autoridade, pois torna a justiça mais possível.
