Uma imagem que dá vida aparece novamente em Provérbios 16:22: O entendimento é fonte da vida para aquele que o possui, mas a estultícia é a punição dos insensatos (v. 22). O entendimento não é informação estática; torna-se uma fonte de vitalidade contínua.
Uma fonte de vida sugere renovação, provisão e continuidade. Quem realmente possui entendimento se nutre dela e, muitas vezes, também pode nutrir os outros. A sabedoria é água viva para as realidades práticas da vida humana.
Mas a disciplina dos tolos é estultícia e mesmo quando os tolos são corrigidos, muitas vezes transformam a correção em mais tolice, porque o coração permanece inalterado. Sem humildade, nem mesmo a experiência disciplinar produz sabedoria. A questão não é apenas o que nos acontece, mas se o recebemos bem.
